7 Days Turns to 7 Months Really Fast

7 days turns into 7 months really fast.

When I got back from the Baja adventure, thought it might be nice to have a week or two break...A break from the constant workouts, the tracking of my weight, my meals and my thoughts. "I'll jump right back in after Thanksgiving...Ok , I'll jump right back in after Christmas... I'll jump right back in after all the New Year's resolution people stop coming to the gym....Really, I'll jump right back in after my birthday, everyone deserves to overdo their birthday. Ok, Ok. Right after I get home from this work trip...."

It's very easy for me to make excuses and tell myself, "You have worked really hard, you deserve a break." But it has been difficult for me to convince myself this break is now over.

These things that I have been pushing off are the things that helped me accomplish my goals and made me feel 20 years younger. Being healthy opened up opportunities and adventures that were only pipe dreams at times in my life.  I would have thought were more deeply embedded.

I've said many times that I will be battling my love of food for the rest of my life, but I didn't take into account how fast those bad habits rear their ugly, fat heads. Overconfidence and entitlement have put me behind on this goal of a healthy me. I am still struggling trying to get back on track.

Right now I should be looking into skin surgery, pushing new boundaries, trying to help others, but I'm stuck retracing my steps on this relentless road.

  1. It's not how often you get knocked down or fall down... it's how often you get back up.

Welcome back to the ride of life and thanks for reminding us that we are all human.
